Welcome to our newly launched website and first news post!

I’d like to begin by thanking the following people for their contributions:  Kaz Yoshida for designing the site, Jean Malanaphy for the Theatre 31 logo, Tristan Milani and Doggieman Media for creating our promo video, The Young Artist Recording Group, Mick Pacifici and Sam Najah for the videos on our Media page, Erin Flannery, Chris Preston, D’Lynn Waldron, Electra Manwiller, and Miles Crawford for their beautiful photos, and Greg Hilfman for his production of the audio tracks on the Media page.

Thank you, as well, to all of the amazing instructors, volunteers, administrators, PTSA’s, and foundations that have collaborated to create such an amazing program for our students and this community!

I am very proud of the opportunities that this program has given our students over the past 10 years.  They have worked with an amazing array of professional artist/educators who care deeply about, and believe in the power of, arts education.  Our students have also been privileged to participate in many special guest workshops over the years, including Q & A sessions with James V. Hart, the writer of “Hook” and “Epic”, and with entertainment icon, Dick Van Dyke.

Our program has been praised by parents for the profound effect it has had on their children’s lives, and has also been lauded by such greats as David Mamet and Arsenio Hall.

Although it is not the ultimate objective of this program, we are very pleased to report that many students we have worked with have gone on to pursue their degrees in the performing arts at prestigious colleges around the country, including the NYU Tisch School of the Arts.  We are also gratified that many are working as professional actors, including Jersey Sullivan, who is playing James in the current Broadway production of SCHOOL OF ROCK.

We hope you’ll join us for our upcoming production of GREASE (School Version) at Lincoln Middle School the weekend of January 27th.  More information will be posted, and tickets will go on sale, in January.

In other news, our 2017 Spring and Summer Camps are now open for enrollment!  Reserve your space today, as these camps will sell out!

I am also very pleased to announce that Katey Mushlin, who was instrumental in the creation of this program and it’s mission, is now mother to a beautiful boy named Andy Milo Scruggs!  Congratulations to Katey and her husband, Nick!  We love you!

Thank you all for your support of this program.  I hope to see you at a future class, camp, or presentation.
